The latest digital trend to be herralded as the future is the fast growing world of artificial intelligence. We asked AI what its thoughts are on the future, and importantly what questions would it ask AI.

We caveat this by saying that the language model felt the need to make it clear what it's position and opinions came from. When asked to conduct an interview with itself the first comment was, 'I don't have personal experiences, emotions, or opinions'. With that in mind the model began a discussion with itself.

Q: What is the purpose of an AI language model like you?

A: The primary purpose of an AI language model like me is to assist users with information, answer questions, generate text, and engage in natural language conversations. My goal is to provide useful and accurate information, as well as help users with tasks like drafting emails, generating content, or solving problems.

Q: How does an AI language model like you work?

A: I am based on the GPT-4 architecture, which is a state-of-the-art deep learning model designed for natural language understanding and generation. I have been trained on a large dataset of text from diverse sources, learning patterns and knowledge from the data. When provided with a prompt, I generate a response by predicting the most likely sequence of words based on the context and the patterns I've learned during training.

Q: What are the limitations of AI language models like you?

A: Some of the limitations of AI language models like me include: Incomplete or outdated knowledge: My knowledge is based on the text I was trained on, with a cut-off date in September 2021. This means that I may not have information on more recent events, developments, or discoveries.

Inability to verify information: I cannot access real-time information or verify the accuracy of my responses beyond what I've learned during training.

Lack of personal experiences, emotions, or opinions: As an AI, I don't have personal experiences, emotions, or opinions, which means that I can't provide subjective insights or relate to users on a personal level.

Potential to generate biased or inappropriate content: If my training data contains biases or inappropriate content, I might unintentionally generate biased or inappropriate responses.

Difficulty understanding context or ambiguity: I may sometimes struggle to understand the context of a conversation or provide appropriate responses when faced with ambiguous questions or statements.

Q: How can AI language models like you improve in the future?

A: AI language models can improve through several avenues: More diverse and extensive training data: By using larger and more diverse datasets, AI models can learn from a broader range of perspectives and knowledge, leading to improved understanding and more accurate responses.

Advances in AI algorithms and architectures: Continued research in AI algorithms and architectures can lead to improved performance, better handling of context and ambiguity, and more human-like interactions.

Addressing bias and fairness: Developing techniques to mitigate bias in AI models and ensuring fairness in generated content is crucial for creating more ethical and responsible AI systems.

AI safety and robustness: Ensuring the safety and robustness of AI systems is essential to minimize risks and unintended consequences. AI developers can focus on designing AI models that prioritize human-aligned objectives and adhere to ethical guidelines.

Improved personalization and context awareness: Future AI models can be designed to better understand the context of a conversation, adapt to user preferences, and provide more personalized experiences.

A naturally interesting subject as we move forward with AI is going to be whether it is as good as the human information input or able to generate concepts itself.
